Andrew White, who had previously broadcast the " Battle of the Century" between Jack Dempsey and Georges Carpentier in 1921 becoming America's first sportscaster, here refers to his 1926 broadcast of the Dempsey-Tunney fight and the "Cave of the Winds" at Niagara Falls: "'All wet' at the Dempsey-Tunney Fight and the same today at the Cave of the Winds".

In 1921 White became America's first sportscaster when, inspired by Julius Hopp's brilliant idea, he broadcast the Dempsey-Carpentier fight. It was the most celebrated experimental broadcast in U. Radio history, setting the stage for the future of sportscasting. Apparently, during that broadcast, White's fruitless attempt to signal for water was subsequently dubbed the "water bottle incident" by Sarnoff. White went on to broadcast the September 23, 1926 Dempsey-Tunney fight, reaching 30 million listeners, and helped found the CBS radio chain in 1927.
