Rare signed note and photo by WWII British Commander Claude Auchinleck who was the Commander in Chief in India (Middle East) under Winston Churchill in 1942. The note states, "We will not be distracted and he (Hitler) will be destroyed" and then signed Claude Auchinleck.
The frame measures 26 3/4" X 18". The photo measures 6 1/4" X 4 1/2" while the note measures 6 1/4" X 3 1/8". All in excellent condition with a few nicks to the frame. A fine addition to any collection. Field Marshal Sir Claude John Eyre Auchinleck, GCB, GCIE, CSI, DSO, OBE was a British Army commander during the Second World War.He was a career soldier who spent much of his military career in India, where he rose to become Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army by early 1941.
